Growing up on the western side of the United States, Maughan has experienced the natural beauty of our nation’s parks and landscapes such as the Rocky Mountains and Yellowstone. Maughan has been a hat collector and designing his own hats with Lids since 2015; he wanted to take his childhood adventures and combine them with one of his favorite things: Fitted Hats. Maughan worked with a New Era designer to creatively curate the Lamar Valley colorway, making every decision regarding detail intentional. The overall hat tells a story, but if you know where to look, you will find underlying meanings behind the cap’s undertones. For example, the team logos are outlined in blue, signifying the river that flows through the valley. If you are familiar with Lamar Valley, you know the river isn’t prominent from every view, unlike the earth tones the browns and greens.
